The port of Palamós officially opened the cruise season this Wednesday with the arrival of the Silver Muse, marking the start of 74 scheduled calls in the Costa Brava region.

Local authorities expect a record-breaking year with 70,000 passengers visiting the ports of Palamós and Roses. Notably, ten ships will be making their debut in these waters, part of a diverse lineup of 17 different cruise lines operating in the Girona province throughout 2026.
A significant 75% of these visitors are scheduled to arrive outside the peak summer months, a strategy aimed at sustainable tourism. This approach is expected to generate 6.7 million euros for the local economy, a 1.5% increase compared to the previous year.

"We have bookings secured for the next two years, though we are monitoring how international conflicts might impact fuel costs."

Esther Roca · Director of Ports de la Generalitat
While Palamós will handle the majority of the traffic with 67,000 passengers, Roses will welcome 3,000 tourists. Visitors typically spend an average of 90 euros during their ten-hour stay, often taking excursions to Girona's Old Quarter, medieval villages like Pals, or the Salvador Dalí museum circuit.
