The town of Pals, in the Baix Empordà region, says goodbye this March to one of its most emblematic figures, popularly known as Balti, a man who shaped the town's history.

The loss of this prominent citizen has created a significant void in the community. Balti was described by neighbors as someone who, beyond financial success, helped build the social fabric of Pals. His life is seen as one of the pillars explaining the modern evolution of this Empordà village.
An episode that defined his character occurred three years ago during a Ràdio Capital audio fiction series titled Ui, si aixequés el cap. The show featured his great-grandfather, Pere Coll i Rigau, the pioneer of rice farming in the area.
When faced with a fictional portrayal he found unfair to his ancestor's memory, Balti chose a unique response: he recorded a text speaking as Pere Coll i Rigau himself. With irony and grace, he defended his family legacy, providing a lesson in how to handle disagreements with intelligence and respect.
