Extinguishing teams have managed to stabilize the forest fire in the Gavarres, which has affected about 2,300 hectares, while the Government is studying today whether to lift the lockdown in seven municipalities of the Baix Empordà.

The stabilization of the fire, achieved yesterday, means that the flames are not spreading and remain within the working perimeter, which covers about 3,400 hectares. According to official data, 97% of the burned area is located within the Gavarres Protected Natural Area.
Regarding material damage, eleven buildings have been affected, four of which suffered total damage. Gardens, fences, an industry, and an animal shelter have also been damaged. Despite the favorable evolution, authorities have warned that extinction tasks will be long and complex due to the expected weather conditions, with a heatwave and southern winds.

"Stabilizing the fire means that the fire is not growing and is kept within the perimeter on which the Firefighters have worked."
