Founded fifteen years ago by young people from the Colla Garnatxa, Els Trompats initially focused on building floats despite their lack of experience. Over time, they shifted their focus to parades and organizing cultural activities, becoming a key part of the driving force behind the Festes de Primavera since the post-pandemic editions.
One of the group's main objectives has been to make the festival more appealing to young people, as they perceived a certain detachment between youth and the celebration in recent years. Els Trompats advocate for a balance between maintaining the historical essence of the Festes de Primavera and incorporating contemporary activities and formats for a renewed festival.
Among this year's highlights are an exhibition of historical posters on the market's facade and the Trobada de Pubilles i Reines de les Festes de Primavera (Gathering of Spring Festival's Maidens and Queens), which will be held at the Fundació Cuixart. This event will bring together participants from different eras to champion the historical role of the pubilles in the festival.
The group emphasizes the heritage and sentimental value of the festival, which they believe fosters strong popular roots among the residents of Palafrugell. Despite new initiatives, Els Trompats insist that the main distinguishing element remains the Carroussel Costa Brava, for which the groups work intensely for months on constructing floats, costumes, and choreographies.
Finally, the group values initiatives like the Escola Carrossaire (Float School), created to transmit technical knowledge and ensure generational succession within the Festes de Primavera.
