Following the control of the fire in Les Gavarres, Catalunya continues to be under extreme risk of forest fires. This situation has been exacerbated by a recent episode of simultaneous fires in various locations such as Santmenat (Vallès Occidental), Artesa de Segre (Segrià), Aiguamúrcia (Alt Camp), Carme (Anoia), Navarcles (Bages), Vielha e Mijaran (Vall d’Aran), and Gavà (Baix Llobregat).
In response to this situation, the Agents Rurals (Rural Agents) update the Plan ALFA daily, a tool that allows checking the fire risk level in each municipality. Specifically, in Baix Empordà, there are currently 6 municipalities classified at level 2, 29 at level 1, and 1 at level 0.
Plan ALFA is the operational protocol established by the Agents Rurals to organize surveillance and prevention tasks against the risk of forest fires throughout Catalan territory. This system is active year-round, and the danger level is reviewed daily.
The Plan ALFA scale consists of five levels, ranging from 0 (low risk) to 4 (extreme danger). The activation of these levels is determined individually for each municipality, aiming to better adapt preventive measures and enhance the protection of both the population and the natural environment.
