The initiative, driven by the FIMAG Cultural Association, was created with the aim of showcasing magic in various formats and making it accessible to the general public. The organization was led by Juli Carbó, with artistic direction by David el Mag.
The fair's model combined free and paid performances, spread across thirteen locations in the town's old quarter. Nine of these venues were free to access, while four required tickets. This setup aimed to concentrate activity in the center and facilitate public movement between streets, squares, and facilities.
The program included both professional and amateur magicians, featuring family shows, close-up performances, and stage productions. The opening act was La asombrosa historia de Mr. Snow, by Antonio Díaz, later known as El Mago Pop.
During FIMAG 2012, the fair's award was presented to illusionist Xevi, a significant figure in magic in Catalonia. The recognition was given during a gala dinner show at the Palau Lo Mirador, with a performance by the company Zootroupe.
Public response was highly positive from the outset, with reports estimating attendance at around 10,000 people. The full capacity of the designated parking areas and the large turnout for certain shows, particularly on Saturday afternoon and evening, were highlighted.
The project was launched with a view to continuity, aiming to promote the world of magic and establish Torroella de Montgrí as a reference point. The first edition served to test the format and gauge public reception, setting the stage for future events.
