The flames have now entered the Les Gavarres Massif, with a visible smoke column pushed by the tramuntana wind. Emergency teams are working on the right flank to prevent the fire from growing with the sea breeze. Currently, there are 53 firefighting units, including 11 aerial resources. The origin of the fire appears to have been a spark from a radial saw used by a worker changing an informational sign.
An alert has been issued to extend the confinement to several towns, including Calonge i Sant Antoni, Castell d'Aro, Platja d'Aro, s'Agaró, Cruïlles, Monells, Sant Sadurní de l'Heura, Forallac, La Bisbal d'Empordà, Llagostera, and Santa Cristina d'Aro. The confinement order has also been extended to the Vall Repòs urbanization and farmhouses in the southern part of the Sant Pol neighborhood.
The head of operations for the Girona Region, Ferran García, explained that the fire could reach Puig d'Arques within an hour, with a potential to burn 100 hectares. The objective is to open the right flank and control the fire. Additionally, two other fires in the Girona region require attention.
According to provisional data from the Agents Rurals, the fire in La Bisbal affects an area of approximately 30 hectares. The City Council of Sant Feliu de Guíxols reports no active fire within the city, although ash from the fire is reaching the area.
The firefighters' priority is the left flank, working to prevent the fire from spreading in this area. Assistance from FOCAS amphibious vehicles has been requested. Meteorologist Isaac Vilà noted the unfavorable weather conditions, with heat and tramuntana wind, but anticipates a garbí wind in the afternoon that could bring humidity.
The mayor of La Bisbal, Oscar Aparicio, stated that there is no danger to the population, while acknowledging the difficulty posed by the tramuntana wind in creating new fire outbreaks. The number of firefighter units has been increased to 30, with 24 ground units and 6 aerial units.
Civil Protection issued an alert for confinement in the Sant Pol area and recommended closing doors and windows. The agricultural fire south of La Bisbal, on the GI-660 road, has forced the confinement of the «El Pou del Glaç» colony house, where 150 children are safe. The GI-660 road is completely closed.
