The Catalan Meteorological Service has issued a high-risk alert for Baix Empordà this Saturday, February 14, as waves are expected to exceed four meters in height.

The maritime situation is driven by a strong northern storm affecting the Empordà coast. According to Meteocat, the Tramuntana wind will intensify the swell, keeping emergency services on high alert throughout the weekend.
Civil Protection has deployed ES-Alert emergency messages to several regions, including Alt Empordà. Although Baix Empordà did not receive the mobile notification, the coastal risk remains severe, and citizens are advised to stay away from breakwaters.
Coastal towns such as Palamós, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, and Begur are expected to be the most affected. Authorities recommend monitoring official updates and avoiding rocky areas where wave impact is most dangerous.
