The Local Police of Torroella de Montgrí have arrested a 30-year-old man accused of starting four fires on the old road connecting the town with l'Estartit.

The incident occurred this Sunday evening. The police operation began following a report of an attempted robbery at a commercial establishment. Upon arrival, officers identified the suspect, who had an outstanding judicial warrant, but he fled on foot after threatening the officers.
Shortly after, a call to the 112 emergency service alerted authorities to an individual walking along the old road, whose description matched that of the suspect. During the search operation, officers discovered four small fires in the vegetation, located just a few meters apart.
The police managed to extinguish the flames using fire extinguishers from their vehicles before the fire could spread. The suspect was eventually arrested for several offenses, including assault on an officer, resistance, disobedience, and the alleged arson.
