Man Critically Injured After Falling on Rocks in Begur

A man in his 70s has been transferred to Doctor Trueta Hospital in Girona in critical condition following a fall in Begur.

A man in his 70s is in critical condition after falling in a rocky area at Punta des Ploms, in Begur, near Sa Tuna, on Monday morning.

The incident occurred shortly before 9 AM, when emergency services received the alert. The accident took place in an area difficult for vehicles to access, although it was reachable on foot.
Four fire crews, medical teams, and a rescue helicopter with members of the Special Actions Group of the Generalitat Firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the man was unconscious and in respiratory arrest.
Firefighters and local police officers performed resuscitation maneuvers until they managed to stabilize the victim. Subsequently, firefighters evacuated him to a point where medical teams were waiting.
The Emergency Medical System (SEM) activated five ground units. Finally, a medicalized helicopter transported the man, in critical condition, to the Doctor Josep Trueta University Hospital in Girona.
