Marina Palamós Reduces Electricity Bill by 66% with Self-Consumption System
The installation combines photovoltaic energy and smart storage, achieving eight months of energy self-sufficiency.

The Marina Palamós sports port has achieved a 66% reduction in its electricity bill through an innovative self-consumption system that integrates photovoltaic solar energy and smart storage.
This initiative, aimed at decreasing reliance on the electricity grid and optimizing energy management, represents a significant step towards a more sustainable operating model for port facilities. Over the past year, the infrastructure has generated and managed over 415 MWh of renewable energy.
The system has enabled the port to achieve up to eight months of energy self-sufficiency, reaching a 62% independence from the grid. The project was developed in collaboration with the company Ampere Energy.
The implemented solution includes a SEMS Buffer Outdoor energy storage system of 100 kW and 480 kWh, complemented by a photovoltaic solar installation. This system not only stores the energy produced to manage its use according to needs but also incorporates energy backup to cover potential supply interruptions and security systems with fire detection and suppression.

The initiative was presented as a success story at the XXII Technical Conferences of Ports of Catalonia, held on May 7 and 8 in Roses. This gathering focused on the challenges of sustainability, innovation, and energy efficiency in port infrastructures.
