The Palafrugell City Council and residents of the Energia neighborhood are at odds over the Urban Improvement Plan (PMU), which includes the construction of 86 new homes.

Local mobilization in Palafrugell has gathered over 500 signatures to halt the current project. Residents are demanding that any urban changes in the area be agreed upon with the inhabitants, citing a lack of transparency during the initial stages.

"We are in favor of social housing, but not just in any way."

Joaquim Duaso · Neighborhood spokesperson
Mayor Laura Millán has publicly apologized for failing to meet with neighbors before the plan's preliminary approval. The local government maintains that the project will not proceed without a formal meeting to discuss residents' proposals and modifications.
Despite the council's optimistic stance, residents remain skeptical. The deadline to resolve formal objections is set for mid-March, and spokesperson Joaquim Duaso notes that the crucial meeting to discuss these issues has yet to take place.
