The major forest fire that started in La Bisbal d'Empordà has produced a smoke plume that, driven by strong winds, was visible from the Balearic Islands.

The fire, which is affecting the Gavarres area, has generated a significant amount of airborne particles. According to data from Meteosat, the smoke column traveled hundreds of kilometers from its origin in the Baix Empordà region to reach the Balearic archipelago yesterday afternoon.
The phenomenon has been widely documented by numerous users on social media, who shared images of the smoke's visibility from various points in the Girona region, confirming the extent of the particle drift across the sea.
