Suspect arrested in Palamós for violent robbery with serious injuries

A 29-year-old man with numerous police records has been arrested by the Mossos d'Esquadra after assaulting a victim on Catalunya Avenue.

The Local Police of Palamós and the Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a 29-year-old individual, with an extensive criminal record, as the alleged perpetrator of a violent robbery that occurred on Catalunya Avenue in Palamós last Saturday, May 9.

The events took place in the early hours of the morning, around 2:30 AM, when the assailant approached an elderly person, who was under the influence of alcohol, and assaulted them to steal money and a mobile phone. As a result of the aggression, the victim suffered significant injuries, including a fractured nose and the loss of two teeth.
A woman quickly alerted the Local Police, who arrived at the scene within minutes. The victim was attended to and transferred to Palamós Hospital, where they were admitted due to the injuries sustained. Subsequently, they have reportedly been discharged.
On the same night of the incident, Local Police officers began identifying the possible perpetrator. Security cameras from a nearby business recorded the assault, providing crucial evidence for the investigation. Based on these images and subsequent inquiries, Mossos d'Esquadra investigators were able to place the suspect at the scene and confirm their identity.
The investigation was taken over by the Mossos d'Esquadra, who proceeded to arrest the alleged perpetrator this Monday morning. The arrest was carried out by officers from the Bisbal d'Empordà police station. The detainee is a 29-year-old man with almost thirty police records.
The individual is accused of a crime of violent robbery and a crime of assault. He is expected to appear before a judge in the coming hours.
