The bay of Palamós finally saw full competitive action this Saturday during the 36th Palamós International Optimist Trophy, as strong winds allowed the fleet to complete three official races.

Canadian sailor Will Keilty from the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron was the star of the day, winning all three races to secure a solid lead. He is followed in the rankings by Spain's Oliver Iglesias and Britain's Jonny Rogers after a demanding eight-hour session on the water.
The Tramuntana wind reached gusts of 23 knots, providing the necessary conditions for the 360 young sailors to compete. The event, a key fixture in the international Optimist calendar, will conclude this Sunday with the final races scheduled before 4:00 PM.
