Endesa completed the burial of 830 meters of overhead wiring in the Montgrí Natural Park, in Torroella de Montgrí, in February 2026, to upgrade the network and protect the landscape.

The work carried out by the electricity company involved dismantling nearly 830 meters of overhead cabling and removing various wooden, concrete, and metallic supports that crossed the protected area of Montgrí, the Medes Islands, and the Baix Ter.
The new route was executed utilizing existing rural roads and reaches the summit of Torre Moratxa, a key location that powers television and telephony repeaters. This improvement indirectly benefits residents of L'Estartit, as it reinforces the electrical supply and prevents outages during adverse weather conditions.
In addition to burying the line, Endesa has constructed a new transformation center at Torre Ponsa. This facility incorporates advanced technology and a design integrated into the natural environment, offering safer equipment for technicians and reducing maintenance requirements.
The project, costing approximately 400,000 euros, is part of the electrical grid improvement plan for the regions of Girona and Baix Empordà. The new line has been interconnected with other networks, creating an electrical loop that ensures service continuity even during faults or maintenance tasks.
