The Girona Court began the trial on Friday against a man accused of killing a 44-year-old resident of Bordils with a machete in Verges in August 2022.

The incident took place outside the Mas Pi restaurant. According to the prosecution, the defendant had been kicked out of the venue earlier that night. He returned armed with a large machete and attacked the victim, who had approached him in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.
Prosecutor Enrique Barata is seeking a 14-year sentence for homicide, while the private prosecution is pushing for 20 years, arguing it was a premeditated murder. The victim died at the Trueta Hospital due to severe injuries to his neck and shoulder.

"Now I have a machete and I will cut all your throats."
