The Fundació Hospitalàries and the UVic-UCC Palliative Care Chair have formalized a collaboration agreement to optimize comprehensive care for individuals with advanced chronic illnesses, promoting knowledge transfer and a more human-centered approach.

This agreement, signed on Monday, March 30, 2026, primarily aims to strengthen the connection between academia and clinical practice. Both institutions share core values such as respect for vulnerable individuals and a commitment to personalized and sustainable care, particularly in mental health.
The UVic-UCC/ICO Palliative Care Chair, established in 2012, is dedicated to generating and transferring knowledge about comprehensive palliative care to facilitate its effective implementation in healthcare, social, and community organizations. For its part, Fundació Hospitalàries brings extensive experience in caring for vulnerable individuals.

"This collaboration will allow us to improve the quality of care through a rigorous and evaluative approach. Furthermore, we will promote various lines of research focused on measuring and analyzing this improvement."

Francisco del Olmo · Corporate Healthcare Director of Fundació Hospitalàries
The agreement foresees the creation of synergies that will positively impact the healthcare system, with lines of action including the effective transfer of knowledge between university research and care practice, as well as the promotion of applied research to identify real needs and improve service quality.

"It is fundamental to establish alliances with care organizations that promote synergistic actions aimed at improving both vulnerable people and the services that attend to them."

The first meeting between both entities marks the beginning of a project considered promising at a national level, reinforcing the commitment to address the growing challenges of advanced chronicity with more integrated and personalized care models.
