AP-7 cut again in Martorell southbound due to accident, two hours after lane reopening

The measure follows the partial reopening of a section by the Catalan Traffic Service previously affected by the Gelida rail accident, with two lanes remaining closed.

The Catalan Traffic Service was forced to close the AP-7 southbound in Martorell again on Saturday, January 24, following a new accident, shortly after partially reopening one lane.

The closure occurred approximately at 16:00 hours, just two hours after vehicles began circulating in the lane that the SCT had reopened at 14:00 hours. This partial reopening was carried out with safety guarantees following the train accident that affected the highway near Gelida.
The other two lanes of the highway remain closed since the beginning of the week. These are the ones closest to the train tracks, where the rail accident occurred due to the collapse of a retaining wall, which caused one death and left thirty-seven people injured.

The reopening of the two remaining lanes, those closest to the train tracks, could take at least two weeks.

The Spanish Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, indicated last Friday that the opening of the two remaining lanes could take at least two weeks. The Catalan Traffic Service has urged drivers to use alternative routes while restrictions remain in place at this key point in Baix Llobregat.
