The Catalan Government has ordered the closure of all schools and universities this Thursday as Catalonia braces for a severe windstorm with gusts over 100 km/h.

Non-urgent healthcare services and public parks will also remain closed. Civil Protection has urged citizens to work from home and avoid unnecessary travel. The highest risk is concentrated in areas such as Barcelona, Vallès, and the Pyrenees region.

"This is a first-class wind event. It will affect every county in the country."

For the first time during a wind event, an ES-Alert will be broadcast to all mobile phones. Authorities are particularly concerned about falling trees due to the waterlogged soil from a rainy January.
