The town councils of Cervelló and Sant Vicenç dels Horts launched a joint initiative in March 2026 to ensure the preservation of the Puig Castellar archaeological site.

The local authorities have established a roadmap to protect this historical settlement located between both municipalities. The project focuses on creating a joint legal framework, such as a consortium, to manage the heritage site. Additionally, they will request the official cataloging of the ruins as an architectural element of interest from regional authorities.

"It is necessary to preserve the historical past of both municipalities with a cohesive project."

The Puig Castellar settlement dates back to the 1st and 2nd centuries BC and AD. Previous excavations have revealed Iberian and Roman remains, highlighting the strategic importance of this site in the Baix Llobregat region's history. The agreement also aims to secure supramunicipal funding for a master plan to organize future archaeological research.
