The Baix Llobregat Campus of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), located in the heart of the Mediterranean Technology Park in Castelldefels, is a unique meeting point where cutting-edge technology and planetary sustainability converge. The open days are an ideal opportunity to discover the two schools that comprise it: the School of Telecommunications and Aerospace Engineering of Castelldefels (EETAC) and the School of Agri-Food and Biosystems Engineering of Barcelona (EEABB).
The EETAC is presented as the birthplace of future engineers in space and global communication. Participants will learn how new-generation satellites are designed and how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing mobile networks. Unique facilities on display include the wind tunnel, the flight simulator, and the DroneLab.
Meanwhile, the EEABB emphasizes that technology is vital for the survival of our environment. Here, science is applied to improve food production, manage water efficiently, and protect biodiversity. Visitors will tour the greenhouses, the experimental practice field, and the biotechnology laboratories, where theory is converted into real solutions for climate change.
A fundamental pillar of the campus is the high rate of labor insertion among its graduates, largely facilitated by remunerated external academic practices. Many students complete internships at international centers of excellence such as ICFO (Institute of Photonic Sciences), the ESA Business Incubation Centre, or the CTTC. Furthermore, EETAC collaborates with major firms like Airbus and Indra, while EEABB works with agri-food industries and research centers such as IRTA.
