The GIRES has announced a long route climbing course for experienced climbers, scheduled from February 19 to March 1, featuring sessions in El Prat de Llobregat and Centelles.

The GIRES (Climbing Research and Rescue Group) has designed this intensive training aimed at providing climbers with the necessary tools to handle high-risk situations on long routes. The course combines theoretical and practical sessions over two weeks, starting on February 19 and concluding on March 1.
The theoretical part of the course will be held at the climbing wall in El Prat de Llobregat, while the two practical sessions will take place in Centelles. The total cost of the training is 70 euros. It is open to both GIRES members and non-associated climbers who already have experience on routes of at least 100 meters.

The focus on prevention and self-rescue is crucial to ensure safety in long route climbing, where the ability for autonomous reaction can be vital.

In addition to this activity, GIRES plans to offer other climbing courses throughout the year, including a Level 3 course and introductory training (Level 1) and for long routes. The entity has also presented a calendar of mountain activities for the first semester, with outings ranging from popular excursions, such as the ascent of Montserrat, to more technical activities like via ferratas and traverses.
