The Mayor of Sant Climent de Llobregat, Isidre Sierra, announced his resignation this Thursday during an urgent extraordinary plenary session after sixteen years leading the local government.

The decision by Sierra, who has been in office since 2010, surprised both the opposition and local residents. Although he is stepping down as mayor, the Junts politician will remain a city councilor. Esther Aguado (ERC) has taken over as acting mayor until a new leader is officially invested.

"I consider it important to withdraw in time, even though municipal politics is in my blood."

The planned succession points to Jordi Pérez Condeminas, currently in charge of Urban Policies, as the next mayor. The opposition group Gent x Sant Climent has called for transparency and a swift transition to ensure institutional stability.
During his 16-year tenure, Sierra focused on financial recovery, reducing municipal debt from five million euros to 1.7 million, and completing key projects like the Ca l'Altisent Library.
