The Mossos d'Esquadra investigation relied on digital evidence after forensic teams found no blood at the scene. Data from the encrypted network EncroChat, provided by French authorities, proved that the victim's Audi A4 remained at the warehouse, debunking the defendant's claims.

The court found that Luis, or someone under his orders, moved the victim's phone to Gavà to create a false trail. Despite the conviction, the victim's family has lost hope of finding his remains to provide a proper burial.
