The Martorell City Council has passed a motion with full support from all political groups to demand the transfer of the Rodalies rail service from RENFE to the Generalitat.

The motion highlights a chronic lack of investment in the Catalan railway network managed by ADIF. Local representatives argue that the current management model is failing, leading to safety concerns and frequent service disruptions, such as the recent accident in Gelida.

"Regardless of who manages Rodalies, the crucial thing is to guarantee its financing with public resources."

The council is also requesting a public audit of the infrastructure and financial compensation for affected passengers, including temporary free travel until the service reaches acceptable standards of reliability and safety.
