Cecilio Limiñana, the Grand Master of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Catalonia, has triggered a significant internal dispute within the UGT union's executive board over regional power dynamics.

The conflict arises from Limiñana's efforts to secure more decision-making power for the Baix Llobregat region. This move has led to clashes with senior officials, including Omar Minguillón and David Papiol, as well as reigniting a long-standing rivalry with the union's president, Encarna Fernández.
Internal sources describe Limiñana as a highly political figure with close ties to the PSOE party. His career began in El Prat de Llobregat as a local police officer before he rose through the union ranks, eventually joining Camil Ros's leadership team in 2020.

"He is one of those unionists who likes being too close to politics. He only lacks the membership card."
