The historic Fira de la Candelera in Molins de Rei (Baix Llobregat) successfully celebrated its 175th edition during the first weekend of February, confirming its status as the longest-running fair in Catalonia and drawing around 300,000 visitors.

This gathering, which has taken place uninterruptedly every February for 175 years, featured approximately 650 stalls. The high public attendance, which has increased in recent years, necessitated the implementation of a specific mobility plan to ensure access and prevent the municipality from collapsing.

"We want to highlight the agrarian world, the peasantry, the tradition, and the identity of Molins de Rei."

The special edition kicked off on January 23 with the opening speech delivered by television presenter and local resident Jordi Hurtado. Mayor Xavi Paz emphasized the work of the founders in creating an immortal sense of belonging. The City Council used the anniversary to reformulate the fair's image without breaking with tradition.
Graphic designer Mariona Rodríguez was responsible for creating the new commemorative 175th-anniversary logo, while local artist Josep Martí Bofarull designed the poster. In addition to agriculture, the fair hosted the Wine and Cava Fair, celebrating its 46th edition with 25 participating wineries, which will soon change location, according to Iván Mustieles.

It has been the same from the first time until the last.
