A 39-year-old man from Sant Vicenç dels Horts died this Thursday morning in a traffic accident on the B-23 highway in Esplugues de Llobregat, likely caused by severe wind gusts.

The incident occurred at 08:21 AM during rush hour. According to the Catalan Transit Service, the rider lost control of his motorcycle without any other vehicles involved. Mossos d'Esquadra officers are investigating the weather conditions as the primary factor in the crash.
Emergency services, including four SEM units, attended the scene but were unable to resuscitate the victim. The accident forced the closure of two lanes, resulting in six kilometers of congestion reaching Sant Joan Despí and the A-2 junction in Sant Feliu de Llobregat.
This death brings the total number of road fatalities in Catalonia to ten so far in 2026. Authorities urge drivers, particularly those on two-wheeled vehicles, to exercise extreme caution during high wind alerts.
