The Rodalies de Catalunya service suspended train circulation for the second consecutive day this Thursday, January 22, 2026, frustrating the Generalitat's plans to restore normality early in the morning.

Rodalies Catalunya warned early on Thursday, January 22, 2026, via its social media channels, that trains would not run "for the moment due to operational causes." This decision comes after the Generalitat de Catalunya announced yesterday the progressive reopening of the service starting at 6:00 AM, causing great confusion and discontent among commuters heading to the stations.

Many users report that the reality behind the lack of trains is labor absenteeism and a hidden strike, as no information was received until 6:20 AM.

This situation contrasts with the statements made on Wednesday by the Ministers of the Presidency, Albert Dalmau, and Territory, Sílvia Paneque, who had assured that trains would run again from early morning, once the technical inspection carried out by Adif was completed. The ministers warned that “it would not be an easy day,” but the total suspension has exceeded negative expectations.
According to a testimony collected by Catalunya Ràdio, the decision to resume service appears to depend on the meeting scheduled for 11:00 AM between the train drivers' unions and the Renfe company. Meanwhile, the situation is uneven: while alternative buses are available in Vic, users in Badalona report a total absence of complementary services.
