The 7.3 million euro project will result in the temporary closure of 550 parking spaces for approximately eleven months. The installation, located in the Salines industrial estate, will feature over 7,000 solar panels covering 15,000 square meters.
Once completed in late 2026, the facility will power 39 municipal buildings, including the La Parellada sports center and the local police station. It is expected to generate enough electricity for 1,200 households, significantly reducing the city's carbon footprint.
“"It is a strategic city project that will allow us to move towards a more sustainable energy model."
The initiative is funded by the AMB, the local council, and EU Next Generation funds. It also includes urban upgrades such as new LED lighting and electric vehicle charging stations throughout the parking area.
