The town of Sant Just Desvern has achieved a historic milestone in 2025, reaching a 66.8% selective waste collection rate while reducing non-recyclable waste by 4%.

Data released this February shows that the local municipal recycling center recorded over 13,000 visits throughout the year. This high level of engagement from Sant Just Desvern residents has been supported by mobile recycling units and local collection points in markets like Plaça Camoapa.
The successful waste management strategy included financial incentives, with 147 residents receiving discounts on their Metropolitan Waste Treatment Tax (TMTR). This collaborative effort between the City Council and the community marks a significant step towards long-term environmental sustainability.
