The Sant Vicenç dels Horts City Council received the technical project for the Population Center Prevention Plan on March 9 to establish a new safety perimeter.

The initiative establishes a 25-meter protection strip around the urban area, in accordance with Law 5/2003. This space is designed to slow down forest fires and assist emergency services. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027.

"The City Council continues to work for a more protected, safe, resilient municipality adapted to climate change."

Miguel Comino · Mayor of Sant Vicenç dels Horts
Residents can review the project and submit feedback via the municipal E-tauler until April 12, 2026. The council is also working on obtaining necessary authorizations from private landowners whose property falls within the planned zone.
The Barcelona Provincial Council will fund 80% of the costs. This project follows previous safety interventions in Font del Llargarut and Contraselva, with future works planned for the Sant Roc and la Cremada neighborhoods.
