The Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, confirmed this Thursday the detection of two African swine fever cases in Molins de Rei, outside the initial safety radius.

The discovery of two infected wild boars in a residential area of Molins de Rei has forced the Government to expand the security perimeter. These cases were found two kilometers outside the previous limit in Cerdanyola.

"It was predictable that this would happen; the two cases are only about two kilometers outside the initial perimeter."

Following the findings, Molins de Rei and el Papiol have been added to the high-risk zone. Access to natural areas in these towns will be restricted starting this Friday, bringing the total to 14 affected municipalities.
Despite the rise in wildlife cases, no commercial farms are currently affected within the surveillance radius. The secondary 20-kilometer safety zone remains unchanged.
