The Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT) will restrict circulation on the AP-7 motorway in Martorell, southbound, starting this Wednesday, after the Firefighters warned of possible instability in the embankment adjacent to the section affected by the rail accident.

The decision follows the collapse of a motorway retaining wall that caused a train accident this Tuesday. The Bombers de la Generalitat (Catalan Firefighters) issued an alert regarding the situation, as the collapsed wall might have compromised the stability of the slope.

The Firefighters have warned of a situation of possible instability on the motorway in the section where the retaining wall collapsed.

Guillem Amorós, head of intervention for the Bombers de la Generalitat, explained that the collapsed wall is currently 'resting' on the derailed train. Therefore, an exhaustive assessment of the slope's behavior must be carried out once the affected carriage is removed.
Currently, one lane of the motorway, specifically the one closest to the retaining wall, is already closed. Despite the additional restriction, the Firefighters confirmed that the rest of the road is 'suitable for traffic' and remains operational.
