The Servei Català de Trànsit announced the total reopening of the AP-7 motorway southbound between Martorell and Sant Sadurní d’Anoia early this Monday, 19 days after the section was closed due to an accident.

The full reopening of the AP-7 southbound section between Martorell and Sant Sadurní d’Anoia became effective early this Monday morning, as reported by the Servei Català de Trànsit. This measure concludes nearly three weeks of traffic restrictions on this major route.
The road had been closed for 19 days following a serious Rodalies train accident that occurred on the night of January 20, in which a trainee driver died.
The incident happened when the train collided with an AP-7 retaining wall that collapsed and fell onto the railway tracks, causing significant structural damage.
Since the accident, rail traffic between Martorell and Sant Sadurní d’Anoia has been suspended, and the highway closure was maintained due to a possible risk of infrastructure collapse, although circulation had been intermittently allowed on one lane.
