The 175th Fira de la Candelera in Molins de Rei was officially inaugurated on Friday, January 30, 2026, with the presence of Minister Jordi Hereu and President Lluïsa Moret, emphasizing its historical relevance and role as an agricultural benchmark.

The inaugural ceremony of the Fira de la Candelera, one of the most important multisectoral events in Catalonia, began with the institutional reception at the Molins de Rei City Council. The President of the Diputació de Barcelona, Lluïsa Moret, was welcomed by Mayor Xavi Paz and Fair Councillor Iván Mustieles, marking the start of a weekend expected to draw thousands of visitors.

"The Fair has become a benchmark both for Molins de Rei and for the entire Baix Llobregat region. The link with agrarian traditions is a 'treasure' that must be preserved."

Mayor Xavi Paz used his speech to underscore the importance of institutional support from the Diputació, noting that this was Moret's third visit to the municipality. Paz thanked Sant Boi de Llobregat for collaborating in the joint promotion of historic events like the Candelera and the Fira de la Puríssima.
Following the speeches, the inaugural tour commenced. The Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, joined the delegation to visit the Espai Natura, focusing on the seedling area, the historical origin of the fair, and the Planter Innov@ space, dedicated to agricultural sector innovations. The route included a stop at the stand of the Fira de la Puríssima from Sant Boi, which celebrates its 80th edition as the guest fair, and concluded at the traditional Wine Fair in Plaça de la Llibertat.
