The girl's mother filed the complaint at the Mossos d’Esquadra police station in El Prat de Llobregat on Sunday, after her ex-partner breached the judicially established visitation regime. Authorities are investigating the case as parental abduction—which occurs when a parent fails to return a minor—rather than kidnapping.
Police sources indicated that the father, an Argentine national, might be preparing to leave Spain, taking the child with him. So far, the Catalan Police have not been able to locate either the father or the minor, and the father is not answering phone calls.

The City Council confirmed that the Mossos, local police, and municipal Social Action services are working in coordination on the case and are in constant contact with the mother. Citizens are urged to call the emergency number 112 if they receive any leads on the whereabouts. Separately, the mother's lawyer has informed the court of the situation.
