The El Prat de Llobregat City Council and the Cooperativa Obrera de Viviendas (COV) inaugurated 101 cooperative rental homes on Saturday, January 31, 2026, marking the largest such development in Catalonia.

This initiative, with a budget of 18 million euros, was completed in the Passatge de Rosa Sensat and represents a housing model that prioritizes the right to housing over speculation. The project stands out for its integral cooperative management, ensuring that new tenants do not have to make any initial investment.

"We open 2026 with enthusiasm and the firm commitment to work collectively so that access to decent and affordable housing becomes a reality."

Antonio Pedrero · President of the COV
Of the 101 units, 89 have been allocated to families who have joined the COV as members. The remaining 12 will be managed by Prat Espais through a specific agreement, including two homes designated for COOUFAR, a cooperative focused on creating an inclusive community for people with intellectual disabilities.
The project, built on 3,300 m² of public land, received funding from the Institut Català de Finances (ICF), the Agència d'Habitatge de Catalunya, and the Departament de Territori. It also benefits from contributions from the ethical financial cooperative Coop57 and Fiare Banca Ética. All homes have an A energy rating due to systems like communal aerothermal energy and cross-ventilation.
