Gina, the girl from El Prat de Llobregat who was held by her father in Italy amid a potential case of vicarious violence, has returned to her mother, Laia, the family confirmed.

The minor disappeared on December 13 after her father took her without authorization, within a context marked by precautionary measures related to a case of vicarious violence.
Following the mother's complaint, the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police) activated the European police cooperation protocol Sirene, as the father had made suspicious asset movements and sales, suggesting an escape.

"Gina returns to El Prat de Llobregat with her mother, Laia! This is news we were all waiting for."

The location was confirmed on December 23 in Naples, Italy, thanks to the work of the Carabinieri. Since then, the girl was placed under the custody of Italian authorities in a minor center until her return could be formalized.
The minor's family used the return announcement to thank the “unconditional support” of the El Prat City Council and other administrations, as well as the work of the lawyers and the solidarity shown by “hundreds of people and neighborhood, educational, cultural, and social entities from El Prat and beyond the city”.
