The Historical Dissemination and Recreation Group (UDEP) and the Foment Cultural i Artístic organized an event on Saturday, January 24, in Sant Joan Despí to remember the entry of Francoist troops into the town in 1939.

The hall was filled to hear the lecture by local historian Miquel Ruiz Carrillo, focusing on the last day of the Republic in the municipality, which was then known as Pi de Llobregat.
The event, held at the Foment Cultural i Artístic, also featured an illustrative exhibition with material that helps better understand the historical moment that deeply marked the local history and that of Catalonia.

An event to better understand that moment which has so marked the local history, that of Catalonia, and the rest of Spain.

One of the highlights that drew significant interest from the attending public was the dramatization of the historical events experienced in the city during those crucial dates.
It should be noted that on January 26, 1939, Francoist troops entered Barcelona and its surrounding towns, utilizing key routes such as the Tibidabo mountain and the Laureà Miró road and the Esplugues bridge.
