The Government of Catalonia has announced nearly 200 construction and renovation projects for educational facilities with a 200 million euro investment, prioritizing major works in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and Baix Llobregat during 2026.

The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training has launched this ambitious initiative to adapt the public school network to current demographic and pedagogical demands. According to official data, the Generalitat has commissioned Infraestructures.cat to execute 84 projects with a committed budget exceeding 100 million euros, and has awarded 111 projects with 25 million euros assigned, totaling an investment close to 200 million euros.
Key actions are concentrated in the southern metropolitan area. In L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, the expansion of the Escola Pere Lliscart is already underway, transforming it into an Infant and Primary Institut-Escola with a budget of 3.6 million euros. Furthermore, the drafting of the project for a new high school in the city has been awarded, costing 646,914.64 euros, aimed at expanding public educational provision in one of Catalonia's most densely populated cities.
In Baix Llobregat, the Institut Escola 2L project in Viladecans stands out, currently in the preliminary phase. Work is underway on the new construction project for this reference educational center, with a budgeted investment of 444,014.70 euros solely for the drafting of the basic and executive project.

The territory becomes a laboratory for educational innovation, where new schools and expansions will redefine the learning experience for hundreds of families.

This investment extends across the entire territory, including projects such as the new construction of Escola Sentmenat and Institut Vallcarca in Barcelona (7.3 million euros each), the new school in Maspujols (5.3 million euros), and the expansion of Escola del Martinet in Ripollet (3.05 million euros). The adaptation of the former Can Batlló factory in Barcelona for a Primary school building (11 million euros) has also been tendered.
