The fire started around six in the afternoon in a first-floor classroom, allegedly originating in a charging cabinet for digital tablets, when no students were present. Cleaning staff and members of the Parents' Association (AFA) meeting in the library were evacuated safely, and the Bombers de la Generalitat quickly extinguished the flames.
There is a scenario of risk and accumulation of deficiencies that highlights the need for an immediate and comprehensive action plan.
The AFA detailed a long list of “serious deficiencies,” including children falling down stairs due to a lack of regulatory railings, electrical installation problems, the suppression of specialty classrooms due to lack of space, and the presence of uralite (asbestos) panels.
These conditions, combined with the temporary relocation of the affected classroom to the library, have led to overcrowding in the dining hall. The association holds both successive municipal governments and the Department of Education responsible for the “maintenance deficit accumulated over two decades.”
