The work focuses on a three-kilometer stretch, located between the Ciutadella Ibèrica de Calafell and the boundary with the municipality of Cunit. This project follows up on the previous renovation carried out between the Red Cross roundabout and the Ciutadella.
The Directorate General of Roads met this Wednesday with the Calafell City Council to coordinate the schedule and necessary traffic measures. The works, which will last four months, with a planned interruption for Holy Week, began immediately with the installation of construction signage this Wednesday.
The pavement renewal will be comprehensive, not just simple resurfacing, as the section handles a daily circulation of about 25,000 vehicles, causing significant deterioration. In addition to pavement improvement, the project includes measures to control speed and facilitate safe pedestrian passage, such as creating new crossings near the Escola Vilamar and in the petrol station area.
“"This is an important improvement, which includes necessary actions that we had been demanding and which, finally, we are achieving. These actions do not interfere with the future transformation of the C-31 into an urban road, which we continue to work on."
