The Rambla Vella served as the venue for this gastronomic landmark in the Baix Penedès region. Organizers prepared 3,000 tastings of xató, a dish that in El Vendrell is distinguished by its specific sauce and roasted ingredients. The festival, founded in 1986, continues to be a key event for local identity.
A major focus of the day was the involvement of younger generations. Seventy children participated in a public demonstration, showing skills learned through workshops organized by the Xató Gastronomic Association of Catalonia in local schools. This educational effort aims to pass the culinary heritage from veteran masters to the youth.
“"Healthy competition is always good, just like with neighborhood festivals, as long as there is a good vibe."
The event also featured a competition for forty adult contestants and a local food fair. Local restaurants joined the celebration by offering traditional menus as part of the regional Xató Route.
