The town of El Vendrell has officially become the host of the 26th Joan Petit Charity Tournament, a roller hockey event scheduled for May 30th at the Quim Tomàs pavilion.

The traditional handover of the 'wooden spoon' took place this week, marking the transition from Cassà de la Selva to the new host city. This annual festival uses sports to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer research.
Local goalkeeper Anna Ferrer Santacana and the CE Vendrell adapted hockey team have been named ambassadors for the 2026 edition. The official poster was designed by illustrator Gemma Fontanals.
Founded by Joan Torner, the Joan Petit Foundation honors children fighting cancer. The tournament travels to a different Catalan town each year, fostering community support through the local passion for roller hockey.
