Jaume Junqué, a 42-year-old entrepreneur from La Bisbal del Penedès, has established his business career with two prominent companies: Suite of Art and DSmartCities. While the latter focuses on digitizing businesses and municipalities through artificial intelligence, Suite of Art specializes in creating interactive murals that blend art, marketing, and technology to revitalize urban spaces.
“"With an entire team, we transform spaces that offer no value, white, dirty, or unnoticed places found in any municipality, into experiences that contribute through the union of art, culture, and technology via interactive murals."
These murals, often in 3D format, are designed with cultural motifs linked to their specific location. Interaction is facilitated through QR codes, allowing users not only to observe the artwork but also to access additional content, such as characters that 'speak' or elements that 'come to life' through augmented reality. This technology generates organic publicity that enhances local culture.
Junqué's company collaborates with a network of about forty artists who bring these works to life. These can range from 2-meter squares to murals spanning 420 square meters, such as the one created in Tarragona, for which a Guinness record is being sought. Furthermore, Junqué founded the Grafftech Fest in La Bisbal del Penedès three years ago, an urban art festival that has since expanded to 18 municipalities, including Bellvei.
La Bisbal del Penedès has become a benchmark for urban murals, with nearly forty transformed spaces. Currently, Junqué's team is developing a free platform that will allow visitors to download information about local traditions when viewing a mural. These murals often depict emblematic elements such as giants, 'gitanes', 'castells', rural life, transhumance, or the Tres Tombs, forming an interactive "Mural Route."
Suite of Art's projects are not limited to Catalonia but have expanded across Spain and internationally, with works in Puerto Rico and Acapulco (Mexico), and ongoing negotiations for projects in Miami (United States). Junqué has expressed his gratitude to La Bisbal del Penedès for providing him with the opportunity to launch these innovative projects, which have achieved great success and attracted busloads of visitors to the town.
