The Catalan Waste Agency has allocated €348,281 to El Vendrell City Council to finance the transition towards a new, more efficient model for selective municipal waste collection.

The Catalan Waste Agency (ARC), attached to the Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition of the Generalitat de Catalunya, has formalized the delivery of €348,281.12 to El Vendrell City Council. These funds are intended to promote efficient selective collection projects for the different fractions of municipal waste.
This economic injection coincides with the launch of the new waste collection system in the municipality, which was a key priority when applying for the aid process. The new model seeks to significantly increase the recycling rate in the Baix Penedès locality.

"One of the challenges we have this year is the implementation of the new waste collection model in the municipality, and this grant from the Generalitat will be good support for it to succeed and increase the percentage of recycling in El Vendrell."

Kenneth Martínez · Mayor of El Vendrell
The new system began on December 1 with door-to-door collection in the Romaní and Bonavista areas. The second phase will start on February 2, with the installation of smart containers in the neighborhoods of Puig, Pèlag, and Muntanyeta.
To inform residents, information sessions have been scheduled this week. On Wednesday, January 14, and Saturday, January 17, meetings will be held at the L'Estació Civic Center for residents of Puig and Pèlag. On Friday, January 16, the session for Muntanyeta residents will take place at El Vendrell City Hall.
