Authorities had recently increased surveillance in industrial areas due to a rise in illegal waste disposal. This increase followed the temporary closure of the Bellvei recycling center after a fire, leading some businesses to bypass environmental regulations during weekends and night hours.

The El Vendrell City Council warned that such actions violate local coexistence ordinances and environmental laws. The moving company now faces financial penalties ranging from 750 to 3,000 euros, based on the volume and potential hazard of the dumped materials.
