The main objective of this initiative is to improve citizen mobility, especially in municipalities with limited taxi availability, ensuring that a vehicle is always available for users.
In its initial phase, all municipalities in Baix Penedès have joined the project, except for El Vendrell, which has so far declined to participate. The system prioritizes using a taxi from the originating municipality, but if unavailable, the request is automatically forwarded to another taxi driver in the region.
To facilitate access, several contact channels have been enabled. Users can request a taxi through a specific mobile application or by sending a message to WhatsApp number 608 48 30 02, indicating the pickup location and destination. Additionally, municipalities will have QR codes for direct access to booking channels.
According to the CCBP, this Single Taxi Area strengthens collaboration between taxi drivers and participating town councils, aiming to guarantee a quality public service with coverage that benefits the entire territory.
